Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. ODM party nominated her to Parliament 2008 and she clinched the Mbita seat in the 2013 election.

Millie Odhiambo has been in the news since Tuesday, December 20, after a clip of her passionately insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta during a special sitting in parliament, went viral.

The debate is still on, whether the fiery politician should apologise to the Head of State for going berserk and hurling insults at him.

The Mbita MP called Uhuru an idiot, thief, and hyena, saying she was exercising her right to freedom of expression, she even dared him to arrest and sue her.

A lawyer by profession, Millie schooled at the University of Nairobi and graduated top 5 of her class.

According to her website, she is one of a handful lawyers in Sub-Saharan Africa who posses a specialised Masters degree in Public Interest Law, a degree she attained from New York University.

She is the fourth child to the late Harrison Odhiambo of Rusinga Island and the late Damaris Auma Odhiambo.

She is married to a Zimbabwean named Magugu Mabona and is also a step-mum to Lebo Mabona of Botswana.
